Kathmandu, Jan 2026 — The Secondary Education Examination (SEE) Routine for the academic year 2082–83 B.S. is set for revision amid preparations to adjust the schedule due to the upcoming House of Representatives election. The National Examinations Board (NEB) had originally planned to begin the SEE in the third week of March, but evolving circumstances have led officials to prepare a revised timetable to prevent disruption.

According to Tuka Raj Adhikari, controller of examinations at NEB, the original SEE schedule—set to commence on March 22— may be shifted by a few days to accommodate the election process. This adjustment comes as the Janak Education Materials Centre (JEMC), responsible for printing SEE question papers, is also tasked with printing millions of ballot papers for the election slated for March 5, 2026.

NEB officials have indicated that the overlapping responsibilities of ballot printing, textbook production, and question paper preparation have created logistical pressures. JEMC’s schedule requires it to start printing exam materials around mid‑February, but with priority given to election materials and school textbooks, this timeline may be delayed. As a result, NEB plans to hold a board meeting in mid‑January and publish a revised SEE routine, reflecting a slight postponement of examination dates.

This year’s SEE is expected to involve a large number of examinees. With more than half a million students enrolling in SEE across 72 subjects, the board’s decision aims to ensure that both electoral duties and examination preparations proceed smoothly without compromising academic integrity.

NEB’s move to adjust the examination schedule reflects ongoing coordination between educational authorities and election bodies to minimise conflicts between national events and high-stakes student assessments. The revised routine will be officially announced once deliberations conclude in the coming weeks.

  • Nepali
